Clancy
Please meet Clancy. He's a 2 year old APBT who's on his 3rd chance for a happy, long life. Clancy's story starts at Animal Services in Florida.
He was pulled before his time was up by a 'rescue' person. This woman pulled a lot of dogs like Clancy (under the guise of an actual rescue),
He was "rescued" and promised a happy life only to be starved almost to death and very mistreated.
Then, he goes back to animal services for a few more months.
This poor guy has the teeth of a 15 year old dog and worse. He is in so much pain, as I'm sure you will tell from the pictures.
He also has luxating patella and requires xrays and surgery to correct.
He can live without the surgery, but why should he have to? Considering what this still loving creature has been through, I
personally feel he deserves to be in a healthy state. He deserves to run and play and get to finally be the pup that was stolen from him.
He deserves to finally live pain free.
I have the time to rehabillitate Clancy, but I need your help getting him there.

Here's Clancy: (He's put on about 4 lbs already!)

Clancy is currently at the vet having his mouth worked on. We were only about $50 away from the dental total, so we chipped in the rest and got him there. Thank you soooo much to everyone who helped make this possible. I know Clancy will eat a lot better when he's not in so much pain. I will update with pictures of the new teeth as soon as I can!

Clancy's dental went very well! He had a few extractions, one being an upper Canine and is still in a bit of pain from that. It also caused a few nose bleeds due to the roots going up the nasal passage. Clancy is definately feeling better though! He got to snuggle with me lastnight and it was the first time I've seen him smile! He always has his 'serious face' on. As you can see from the pictures, his teeth are still brown. This is the way they will stay, but it's not hurting his smile any now is it?
Clancy wants you to be his Valentine!

Clancy went in for his initial Xrays yesterday. His luxating Patella is so bad that it doesn't even pop back into place. He has accumulated quite a bit of arthritis as well, and is now taking PhyCox chews for that. He will definately need the surgery unless he lives in pain for the rest of his life.
We have to make an appointment with Dr. Hayes (Orthapedic surgeon) ASAP to take more involved Xrays for a complete estimate on surgery costs (at least $1500). YUCK :o(
He is slowly gaining weight but we can still see hip bones and ribs (just can't see through ribs anymore).
It sucks because with the knee issue he can only afford to put on another 5-7 lbs. right now. That's not nearly enough. He should be an almost 60 lb. dog and he's 45 lbs...
I also had Dr. Palma check something else on him. I noticed that when he is still (laying down, sleeping etc...) I can see his heart beat through his chest. It even makes his head shake (almost looks like Parkinsons (sp?) Disease). She sat in a room with him for almost an hour trying to figure it out. It took her a whole 10 MIN to even hear a heartbeat...Crazy huh?
She thought maybe it was a heart murmur, cause when she heard the beat it was muffled. Well with a heart murmur you'll get a muffled beat here and there...Clancy's are ALL muffled.
She's thinking he may have some Heart Blockage or Heart Disease. Another Doctor will have to assess this and tell me what to do next.
I REFUSE to put this guy down due to monetary issues. Once I have everything documented I will decide how to pay for it and if he's deemed adoptable or not. It's hard enough to find someone to adopt healthy dogs these days...a medical case is almost unheard of.
No worries though, should no one want to adopt him, he'll live with me for the remainder of his natural life. He's just that good of a dog. None of this is his fault and he'll live a happy life either way.
Sorry for the novel :o)
**Looks like we need to raise quite a bit more for Mr. Clancy! Estimates to follow...
