Dear Miss Ashlie:
I wanted to say thank you for taking such great care of me, loving me, teaching me and generally being such a great mommy until I found my new family.
Things are pretty great here at my new house. The big human loves me a lot. I can tell because he treats me like the two little humans here and yells at us all the same way and tells us all that he loves us too. He spends a lot of time holding us all, kissing us all and giving us all a lot of hugs. I know that he is just trying to make us all the best pack we can be. He tells the two little humans that they have a job to do and it is to teach me to be a good doggy, to obey all the humans and be nice to them.
The two little humans are constantly wanting to love on me, play with me and tease me, etc. The littlest human tried to pick me up by my tail, but then the big human told him NO! (just like he tells me when I do something that he doesn't like). The bigger of the two little humans thinks that I belong to him and him only and he's constantly touching me, rubbing me and wanting to hold me. He's kind of a pain sometimes but I love him anyway because I know how special I am to him. He also repeats EVERYTHING the big human says.
There is also a good smelling human at my new house. She is very nice to me and takes me outside a lot with the two little humans and she is trying to teach me how to be a good doggy too. She has never had a dogy before, so it's mostly the big human that walks around telling me and all the other humans what to do in taking care of and teaching me. (he thinks he knows everything, which he probably doesn't, but I follow along anyway because I know he means well)
Well, I just wanted to keep in touch and let you know that I have settled in with my new family. They're taking great care of me, they love me and I love them too.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Lomey
~*~*~*~ NEW UPDATE 8/24/09 ~*~*~*~

Dear Miss Ashlie:
I just wanted to check in and let you know how things are going with my new family. The attached photos are the best daddy could come up with (he takes a lot, but he's not a great photographer). Carter and Brock are my two best and closest friends. They give me lots of love and we all tease each other (just like boys do) and play all the time. I have the good smelling one wrapped around my paw- she ALWAYS lets me lay with her on the furniture, she pets me a lot and since I'm only about 35 pounds, I love to crawl into everyone's lap whenever I can get away with it.
My new family loves me a whole bunch and they are glad you let me come live with them. Sometimes they go places and don't bring me though, in fact- just this weekend they went to a birthday party and left me at home! I didn't like that because it hurt my feelings. I was hoping they got a flat tire while I chewed some things that they like. I think they got the message.
Well, I just wanted to let you know that things are going great. I get lots of love and discipline (I prefer the former) just like everyone else in the house. I'm doing pretty well with all of my training. I can sit and come and stay.... no, wait maybe that was lay down... or was it go find Carter... oh, crap, I forgot what all I can do, I just get so excited sometimes- I forget. Anyway, they all love me and I love all of them!

Dear Ashlie,
I finally got a few minutes to write to you and tell you how much I love you and miss you! I thank you so much for caring for me and finding me a great home!
I am busy most days teaching my step sister Gizmo how to be patient, playing with my many toys, going for walks, and getting into things I shouldn’t be getting into! Of course I am getting better about not getting into so much stuff.
My new mommy says my nick-names are “no” and “put that down”. But I can tell that she means that good heartedly because she gives me a lot of kisses and hugs, and she really knows how to rub a belly!
There is another animal here that has wings and FLYS! It has dive-bombed me a couple times and I almost had a taste of it, but we don’t get to be around each other anymore. So I guess I will just never know what love-bird tastes like…. Oh well, I get a lot of good food!
My new daddy says that I am his girl, and that he loves me very much. I know he does because he kisses and hugs and pets me even more than my new mommy does! He says he just can’t resist loving on me all of the time because I am irresistible.
Both my mommy and daddy tell me how you are doing with other doggies that you are helping and how much you need to hear from your babies you have adopted out like me, so I wanted to write and let you know how much I appreciate what you did for me, and what you do for others. Don’t let the ones that don’t work out distract you from the ones that you can help. I know you won’t, I know because I am here today because of you! Well, I have to run…. Literally! I see a squirrel in my backyard! See you soon!

Dear Ashlie,
I just wanted to send you a letter to say thank you so much for rescueing me from that abandoned house. If you hadn't come along who knows where I'd be. And thank you for letting my mommy keep me I love her so much and I know she loves me just the same. And you know what the best part is??? I get to see you everyday. I know all these other friends of mine who come and go must really miss you I couldn't imagine or would I want to.
Things are going great with me. Mommy takes me to this nice ladies house once a week and we get to run around on the big field and get lots of treats. Mommy calls this training I call this yumm. Mommy says I'm a totally diffrent dog now I even get to sleep out at night with her.
I've got to tell you that I think what your doing with all these other dogs is great! They need more people like you in this big world.
Did I mention that my mommy is the coolest person in the world she takes me to these walks once a month she calls it Bay Area Bullies. Shes always tells me how much she loves me after we do these things. I don't know why but I'll take it.
So I have a sister too. Her name is Sage. I think shes cooler than the other side of the pillow. Shes always been mommy's #1 so she gets mad when I sleep out or go places with mommy but she gets over it really quick.
Well Miss Ashlie keep up the good work. Don't ever give up on saving others like me cause if you did then who would??? Mommy says your one of her hero's and I'd have to say you are MY HERO!!! Thanks again for loving me as much as you do and allowing my mommy to do the same.

I just wanted to write and let everyone there know how Pandora is doing in her new home. Now I know why you called her your heart. She has quickly nuzzled her way into ours. Besides being a great lap-warmer, toe-cleaner, and face-washer, she is extremely well behaved. She always comes when I call, goes potty on her walks, and drops her "find" with a simple firm command. She rarely jumps and not so much as a nibble on her new human brother. She is having a fantastic time with her canine sibling Chiczilla. The two of them are inseparable! They play fight, play tug o' war, keep away, romp around crazily, and anything else the two of them can think up! And when bedtime comes they curl up together cozy as can be. (Until about 3 am when Chickie is on my head and Panda Bear aligns herself with my legs - This is going to be a warm winter!) I just wanted to thank you all so much for taking such good care of her. It is easy to see that just because she is a rescue dog does not mean she hasn't been loved - A LOT! You've done a great job with her. I know she had special bonds with many of you and I know she misses you, but you don't have to worry, she is very happy in her new home and we promise to take the best care of her. Thank you for what you do and for bringing us together with such a great new friend. (Pandora had something to say too but I don't think I can type that many licks!)

Dear Ms. Ashlie,
Thank you so much for taking care of me and my brothers and sisters. I don't know where we would be with out you. You are a very special person and you are greatly appreciated by all the animals you help, and the people you work with.
I love my new family so much. Thank you for introducing us. I have a little girl who I love to chase around the back yard. We have so much fun. I also go every where with my family, except the grocery store and work, but other than that we are always together. Best of all, we go to the events at least once a month, and I still get to see you. I am so glad.
Sometimes we take trips to Grandma's house and I get to play with my Aunts Gracie, Janis, Kiwi, Jane Jane, and my Uncle Daddy's boy. We are working up to being able to play with everyone but right now I just do one on one time with them, instead of everyone at once. Grandma gets very nervous and leaves the room. So far my favorite is Janis. We play ball together in the back yard. We have so much fun.
I can't wait to see you again, and I just wanted to tell you how well everything is going. I am growing so fast we will be going shoping for a new collar soon. I love to go shoping! Daddy says I am a typical girl. Spoiled Rotten. Mommy says I am just well loved. See you soon.
xoxoxoxoxox,
Veruca Salt
P.S. You are a very special person and we greatly appreciate everything you do. It is nice to come home and see this big bundle of joy just run and run. She makes the stress of the day disapear. Oh and she loves to jump in the bath with Kylee. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.
xoxo,
The Heinhuis family.

Just wanted to give you an update on Pancho and let you know how well we all are doing. First of all, thank you for being open to meeting us, even though I know you had concerns regarding our Chihuahuas. Adopting Pancho has brought so much extra joy to our hearts, I can't even tell you. And he's such a HAPPY BOY!! He gets LOTS of love here and I can tell he feels secure here with his new world.
He has TONS of energy, but we've worked out a routine that he enjoys and one that doesn't knock us out ;) He goes for 2 long walks (every morning and evening) and has met plenty of neighborhood folks who have noted what a handsome and well behaved pooch he is (that's our boy, representing for the Pitties!), we made a jump line for him out back (like you all told us to) and HE LOVES IT!! He gets to jump out there throughout the day, whenever we notice he needs to burn some energy...doggie gets airborne, and he loves it when you tell him what a skilled jumper he is:)
Scott plays tug-of-war with him every day, and he loves this too. We were able to teach him to "give" his toys to us, which he does without any hesitation when we ask. Now I know there are 2 schools of thought on whether tug-of-war is a good idea or not, but with practice he's become very respectful of the boundary between his mouth and Scott's hand, and we have absolutely no problem playing this game with him. Scott makes sure HE wins most of the time, allowing Pancho to win only occasionally (which we read will keep Scott's status as pack leader intact).
He has a favorite treat-ball toy that he has been unable to destroy (YES!), and he gets to play with this each night after his walk. Our male Chi, Jackie, has warmed up to Pancho and follows him around while he's playing w/ his treatball, scavenging for the crumbs - it's hilarious. Pancho even rolls the ball towards Jackie every now and then, but the ball is half the size of Jackie and he has no idea what to do with it. He prefers to stick to his role as crumb-snatcher :) Our female Chi, Maria, still is not friendly to Pancho. She tolerates him, and he has pretty much learned not to bother her. Occasionally he'll want to sniff her, which invites her growling and we have to make sure to take him away from her right away so she won't nip at him. We faithfully keep our eyes on them all at all times, as we know the potential for trouble if someone did get too grouchy and decided to nip - we are committed to keeping EVERYONE safe and happy. Fortunately, Pancho no longer feels the need to charge at the little ones at full speed and then jump over them at the very last second before collision...that was a little stressful for everyone ;)
He gets to snuggle on the couch with us and watch t.v., and we may have even let him snuggle in bed once or twice...lol. He gets visits from his Nana, who loves him, loves him, loves him! It is absolutely hilarious and adorable how excited he gets to see her. She was afraid of Pit Bulls before we got him, but she has now experienced how wonderful, funny and loving they are, and has a new set of eyes as far as this breed is concerned (makes my heart sing).
We just ordered a package of 3 jump-hurdles for him, and we're excited to see if he'll enjoy jumping hurdles in the back yard. We also discovered just recently by accident that he loves sprinkler heads - who knew?! During one of his morning walks last week someone's sprinkler system was activated and when he came upon a sprinkler head near the sidewalk, he went all kung fu on it! Scott laughed his butt off - Pancho doesn't like the pool, so he just assumed he wouldn't like any water. WRONG! So, we're buying a new hose and a sprinkler this weekend for Pancho-boy to play in out back.
All in all, everything is going super-well and I just wanted you to know that. God bless you, and everyone else at Pit Stop Bully's Rescue, for all the amazing work you folks do on behalf of these beautiful dogs. Tomorrow when we say grace before dinner, I'll be expressing a special thanks that there are caring, compassionate people and organizations such as yourself and Pit Stop Bully's Rescue in this crazy, crazy world. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for saving Pancho; he's our angel and we will love and care for him always.
